In her book The Perfectly Imperfect Home: How to Decorate & Live Well, author Deborah Needleman explains that our bedroom “is our most private space, and it should be arranged to take care of us, rather than just be a crash pad or an over-programmed home office/exercise room/storage dump.”

Donovan explains that you need to use a flat sheet to reduce wrinkles and mysterious scrunches in your sheets. Oddly enough, this loose layer carefully fashioned along the mattress is essential to making a bed that could pass military inspection, as Admiral William H. McRaven shares in his book “Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life.”
