21 Best Bedding for Night Sweats to Keep You Cool and Dry All Night

Waking up in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat, is no one's idea of a good night's sleep.  If night sweats are robbing you of comfort and quality sleep, bedding choices could be the culprit. Different materials and fabrics perform very differently when it comes to regulating temperature and moisture, and choosing the right ones can make a significant difference between a cool, dry sleep environment and one that feels hot and sticky. The debate of Duvet vs Comforter also plays a role in sleep quality. In this article, we'll explore the best bedding for night sweats to help you find the right options to keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night.

Yumerest's cloud-like fluffy duvets are a great place to start. Their soft, breathable covers and lightweight, moisture-wicking fills help regulate temperature to keep you from overheating while you sleep.

What Bedding Fabric Is Best for Night Sweats?

Regulating Body Temperature at Night

The human body temperature changes frequently, but around 2 hours before sleep, it typically decreases due to the circadian rhythm. If a person is too hot during the night, it can negatively affect their sleep stages and potentially lead to poor sleep quality. Cooler temperatures do not have the same effect.

According to the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), the body releases the hormone melatonin for individuals to feel tired enough to sleep. If a person’s body is not cool enough, it can prevent this hormone’s release, making it more difficult to sleep. For this reason, those who experience night sweats may have broken sleep and often feel tired. Specific bedding may help regulate a person’s temperature more effectively during sleep, thereby improving sleep quality.

Why Do Night Sweats Happen?

Before exploring the best bedding for night sweats, it’s crucial to understand what causes them. Often, night sweats can be attributed to hormonal changes such as:

  • Menopause

  • Medications

  • Medical conditions

The key to alleviating night sweats is enhancing the breathability and moisture-wicking capabilities of your bedding, thus ensuring that heat and moisture do not trap against your body.

Can Certain Bedding Cause Night Sweats?

Certain types of bedding may exacerbate night sweats and worsen them. Various materials can have a profound effect on your body temperature, particularly materials that are not breathable. If you use heavy bedding that doesn’t allow for good airflow, it will trap your body heat while you slumber.

Thick bedding might help you stay nice and cozy on cold winter nights, but it’s not typically breathable or lightweight. For individuals who experience night sweats, selecting the right type of bedding is crucial to promoting a restful night's sleep and enhancing your overall well-being. Without good airflow, the sheets you use may be the cause of occasional (or regular) night sweats.

How Bedding Affects Body Temperature

When it comes to your body temperature at night, it’s all about breathability. Heavy sheets like flannel don’t promote good airflow, leaving your body heat to remain trapped under the bed sheets. When your body heat can’t escape, it can easily lead to overheating. If you are a hot sleeper, it’s essential to avoid certain types of bedding so you have a better chance of staying cool all night long.

Types of Bedding to Avoid

There are some types of materials to avoid when you’re looking for the best bedding for hot sleepers. Not only are the fabrics below less cooling, but they may even make you feel warmer!

Hot sleepers should avoid these textiles:

  • Flannel: Most people associate flannel with winter and cold weather because it’s such a thick, warming fabric. But while this material certainly keeps you cozy, hot sleepers should avoid it altogether.

  • Polyester: This synthetic material is not at all breathable, unlike most natural fabrics. Even if you weren’t a hot sleeper in the past, you’ll likely become one if you decide to use polyester sheets.

  • Microfiber: Although this material has a soft texture and is highly durable, it’s not ideal for sleepers who run warm at night. The super-tight weave of microfiber traps body heat and prevents good airflow, which in turn makes you feel hot and sweaty.

What Fabric Is Best for Night Sweats?

If you want cool bedding for night sweats, you’ll need to know which types of fabric are best. Let’s look closer at a few of the most common bedding fabrics, and compare various fabric properties to help you find the sheets for hot sleepers.

The most common fabrics used to make bedding include materials like:

  • Bamboo

  • Cotton

  • Linen

  • Microfiber

  • Silk

  • Polyester

  • Flannel

This is typically a thicker and heavier form of cotton. Read on to do a comparison of the properties of a few of these popular bedding fabrics.

Comparison of Fabric Properties

Here are some popular bedding fabrics, along with their respective pros and cons.

Bamboo

This natural material is exceptionally soft and eco-friendly, making it a sustainable choice. Bamboo sheets make high-quality cooling sheets thanks to their breathability and looser weave. These sheets are excellent for individuals with allergies and sensitive skin, and their thermoregulating properties help keep you comfortable and cool.

This natural material also has moisture-wicking properties that help draw moisture away from the body while you sleep, keeping you cool throughout the night. The disadvantages of bamboo sheets are that they may shrink, and certain bamboo products are prone to wrinkles.

Cotton

When comparing bamboo vs. cotton sheets, both are breathable and designed to draw heat away from the body, helping you stay cool. Choosing 100 per cent organic cotton sheets is the best option since they’re naturally hypoallergenic, too. While cotton can keep you cool, it does tend to hold moisture against the skin, which may increase the risk of overheating.

These sheets are soft, durable, and easy to clean, but they may shrink in the wash, wrinkle, and wear down faster than those made from bamboo.

There are two patterns of cotton sheets:

  • Percale weave

  • Sateen weave

Egyptian cotton, Pima cotton (also known as long-staple cotton), and Supima cotton are superior types of cotton recognized for their longer fibers and desirable qualities in bedding, including their cooling properties.

Linen

This natural fiber is made from flax plants and is slightly rougher than cotton, although it tends to soften after each wash. Linen natural fibers are:

  • Bacteria-resistant

  • Moisture-resistant

  • Lightweight

  • Comfortable

Linen sheets are excellent for both hot summer nights and cool winter evenings. It’s also very:

  • Durable

  • Sustainable

  • Easy to care for

Linen sheets are widely regarded as one of the best cooling bed sheets because of their temperature-regulating properties. While linen sheets are indeed luxurious, they also tend to cost more and can wrinkle quite easily.

Microfiber

These sheets are very popular thanks to their easy maintenance and low-wrinkle properties. Microfiber is a man-made fiber that’s soft to the touch and rarely shrinks, but it’s made from tightly woven polyester, so it’s not very breathable.

Since microfiber is synthetic, it’s not eco-friendly; it's allergy-safe and durable. These sheets are usually affordable and easy to clean, but they’re not very breathable, which means they could make night sweats worse.

Tencel

Tencel, also known as Lyocell, is a naturally derived fiber made from wood pulp, often sourced from eucalyptus trees. It has several properties that make it suitable for individuals who tend to sleep hot. Tencel Sheets feel soft; their cooling properties are attributed to their natural moisture-wicking characteristic.

Recommendations for the Best Fabrics for Night Sweats

When it comes to dealing with night sweats, you need to make sure that you’re choosing the most cooling material possible. Look for fabrics that are incredibly lightweight and breathable, as well as materials that will “wick” moisture away from your skin to help you remain calm and comfortable throughout the night. The best bedding for night sweats should always be lightweight and breathable, featuring materials like 100% organic cotton or natural linen. Most natural fabrics are already lighter in weight, and they tend to promote better airflow than synthetic materials.

2. Casper Hyperlite Sheets

Casper is best known for disrupting the mattress industry, but how do their bed sheets hold up? Let’s take a closer look at the Hyperlite set.

Made from Tencel, a eucalyptus-based fibre similar to viscose, the Hyperlite sheets score sustainability points. Eucalyptus grows quickly on marginal land with minimal water, making it a more eco-friendly option than conventional fibres.

Performance-wise, Tencel offers excellent breathability, and Casper enhances this with a loose, grid-like weave that creates natural ventilation. With a thread count of just 200, the Hyperlite sheets are light and airy, making them ideal for hot sleepers or anyone who prefers the comfort of lighter fabrics. If you choose a heavier, more substantial sheet, it may not be the right choice for you.

The Trade-Offs: Design, Cooling, and Cost

One minor design quirk: the flat sheet lacks the typical wide hem at one end, which can look a little off if you’re used to a crisp, hotel-style bed. Unlike some cooling sheets that use heat-dispersing finishes (such as Hush), the Hyperlite set relies purely on airflow. This means they won’t feel cool to the touch, though they still regulate temperature reasonably well.

Price-wise, they sit at the premium end: expect to pay over $300 for a Queen set, unless you catch a sale.

3. Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set

Cozy Earth’s organic bamboo sheets are best known for their ultra-soft feel, and they gained extra fame when Oprah included them on her “Favourite Things” list. Like Hush, these sheets are made without harsh chemicals, making them a good option for sensitive skin.

Made from bamboo viscose, they’re naturally moisture-wicking and breathable, ideal for hot sleepers or those prone to night sweats. With a thread count of 300, they offer a smooth, silky texture that’s hard to beat if softness is your top priority.

Try Before You Commit

But softness comes at a cost. Even after a recent markdown, Cozy Earth sheets are by far the most expensive on our list, around CAD 470 for a Queen-sized set, nearly double the price of Hush.

More concerning, though, are some durability issues. Multiple customers report that the sheets pill quickly, feel thinner than expected, and in some cases, even tear after a few washes.

On the plus side, Cozy Earth offers a 100-night sleep trial, so you can test the set for yourself and return it if they don’t live up to the hype.

4. Parachute Percale Cotton Sheets

If you love the crisp, classic feel of cotton, Parachute’s percale sheets are a solid option for hot sleepers. That said, not all cotton sheets are created equal, especially when it comes to breathability and quality. Some brands use short-staple cotton, which is less durable and prone to pilling. Others inflate thread counts by layering fibres, making the fabric unnecessarily heavy and less breathable.

Parachute avoids those traps. Their sheets are made from 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton, known for its durability and natural airflow. The lightweight percale weave adds even more breathability, making these a good pick for warm nights.

Feel & Function: What to Expect

They have that signature crispness Egyptian cotton is famous for, a texture many people love. But if you're after a buttery-soft or silky feel, these may not be your match. On the plus side, they’re Oeko-Tex certified, so they're free from harmful chemicals and allergens.

Cotton performs well for mild to moderate heat retention, but if you experience intense night sweats or frequently wake up damp, Tencel or bamboo sheets may serve you better. Cotton simply doesn’t wick moisture as effectively.

The Hidden Cost of a Full Set

One downside worth noting is that the standard Parachute Percale set includes only a fitted sheet and two pillowcases. The flat sheet is sold separately, at an additional cost of $80-$ 130 CAD, depending on the size.

It’s a pricing strategy that keeps the base price low on paper, but once you build a complete set, the total cost edges close to that of luxury brands like Cozy Earth.

5. Mellanni Iconic Collection Bedding Sheets & Pillowcases

“Jack of all trades; master of none” sums up Mellanni’s Iconic Collection perfectly, including the four-piece cooling sheet set we tested for this year’s roundup. These sheets aren’t the softest, most luxurious, or best at cooling. But they strike an impressive balance:

  • They feel better

  • Look better

  • Regulates temperature better than most sets that cost three times as much

“My girlfriend and I have slept on these for the last month, and we've been pleasantly surprised by how good they feel for the price,” says Richard. “They're not the softest in our roundup, but they’re much cozier against the skin than most sheets I’ve tested in this price range.”

Better Breathability Than Expected

Made from synthetic microfiber (essentially polyester), this set wasn’t specifically engineered for cooling. The weave is tighter than most natural-fibre sheets, but the fabric is thin, surprisingly breathable, even on hot summer nights.

“I actually took these glamping on a long, hot, late June weekend,” Richard says. “For sticky, sweaty nights, the lightweight design was perfect. I found them more breathable than most microfiber sheets.”

That said, this construction comes with trade-offs. Microfiber isn’t as absorbent or moisture-wicking as bamboo or Tencel, so if you’re a heavy sweater, you may want something more high-performance.

Affordable Sheets That Hold Up Over Time

Still, the Mellanni sheets earn points for durability. The tight weave resists wear, and even after repeated washes, we saw no pilling, loose threads, or fading. They're also more wrinkle-resistant than most, no ironing needed straight out of the package.

The standout feature? Price. These sheets are significantly cheaper, sometimes by over 75%, than others we tested. And with Amazon’s free shipping and returns, you’re essentially getting an in-home sleep trial.

One more plus: Mellanni offers the broadest range of colours and patterns we’ve seen. If you like to match your bedding to your bedroom decor, that flexibility is a nice touch, especially at this price point.

6. Bedgear Ver-Tex Sheet Set

You don’t have to spend a fortune to get decent cooling sheets, but with Bedgear’s Ver-Tex Sheet Set, the higher price tag comes with clear benefits. Made from 100% nylon, they’re cool to the touch, impressively breathable, and surprisingly soft. While nylon isn’t known for moisture-wicking, the Ver-Tex set performed well overall, though it can feel slightly clammy in very humid conditions.

The standout feature is the fit: Bedgear’s Powerband elastic keeps both the sheets and pillowcases firmly in place, even during restless nights: no slipping, no bunching, just a consistently smooth sleep surface.

Durability is excellent, and the performance-focused design makes this one of the top cooling sets we tested. The downsides? Limited colour options, no sizing below Queen, and a steep price. Still, if you’re willing to invest, this set delivers comfort, cooling, and fits better than almost anything else on the market.

7. SlumberCloud Performance Sheet Set

While most cooling sheets kick in only after you’ve started sweating, Slumber Cloud’s Performance Sheets are designed to regulate temperature before things get uncomfortable. The key is an innovative fabric blend of Tencel and Outlast viscose, a material originally developed for NASA, that actively absorbs and releases heat to maintain a stable sleeping temperature.

The result is one of the most effective moisture-wicking sheet sets we’ve tested. Despite the 300-thread count, these sheets feel as soft and smooth as many high-end cotton sets, proof that thread count isn’t everything.

Worthwhile Extras: Fit, Trial, and Alternatives

Practical touches, such as full elastic corner bands, help keep the fitted sheet in place, and the 60-night sleep trial (with full refunds on even used sheets) makes it easy to try them risk-free.

For hot sleepers seeking a mid-range upgrade, this set delivers best-in-class cooling, strong durability, and comfort that rivals that of more expensive competitors.

Pro tip: Prefer a more traditional sheet feel? Slumber Cloud’s Essential Sheet Set swaps Tencel for cotton while still using the same Outlast tech.

8. Sijo AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheet Set

If you love the silky feel of cotton sateen but need something more extraordinary, Sijo’s AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheets are a standout. Made from Tencel Lyocell, they’re smooth, hypoallergenic, and absorb up to 70% more moisture than cotton, making them ideal for sensitive skin and sweaty nights. The sateen-like finish gives them a luxe, glossy texture that stays breathable and cool to the touch.

At CAD 185 for a queen set, they’re not budget-friendly, but they are built to last. Lab tests show they resist pilling even after 2,000 rubs, and you can customise your order by skipping the flat sheet for a $75 discount.

The one drawback? No in-home sleep trial. Returns are only accepted on unopened bedding. Still, the combination of high-end cooling performance and skin-friendly softness makes these a compelling pick for hot sleepers who want that “cool side of the pillow” feel all night.

9. Brooklinen Luxe Core Sheet Set

Linen is one of the best materials for hot sleepers, if you're open to a higher price point. Brooklinen’s Linen Core Sheets are made from 100% European flax and strike a rare balance between breathability and weight. They feel light and airy, yet still cosy, which makes them ideal for year-round use.

They may feel slightly coarse at first, typical for linen, but they soften noticeably with each wash. After nearly three years of use, our tester reports they’ve only improved with time: no pilling, snagging, or wear. They’re OEKO-TEX certified and come with a generous 365-day return window, the longest of any sheets we reviewed.

At around CAD 400, they’re a splurge. But frequent 25% sales help ease the sting. If you want a long-lasting, breathable set with a lived-in luxury feel, Brooklinen’s Linen Core Sheets are well worth the investment.

10. My Sheets Rock "The Regulator" Sheet Set

Bamboo-rayon sheets like the My Sheets Rock Regulator Set are a standout choice for hot sleepers, thanks to their featherweight feel, natural breathability, and serious moisture-wicking power. WH commerce editor Lily Wohlner, a self-described “hot sleeper,” found them genuinely life-changing: “They’re super thin, super soft, and they keep me cool all night.”

Bamboo fabric is naturally cool to the touch, highly absorbent, and luxuriously smooth, without the crunchy texture common in lower-quality synthetics. That said, the ultra-lightweight design can cause these sheets to bunch up slightly, but the stretch makes making the bed easy.

A Balanced Pick for Hot Sleepers on a Budget

While bamboo is often marketed as eco-friendly, it’s worth noting that the production process involves heavy chemical treatment to turn raw bamboo into rayon. Still, these sheets strike a compelling balance between comfort, cooling, and cost. They’re a significant midrange upgrade, perfect for hot sleepers ready to move beyond budget basics but not quite ready to splurge on luxury linen.

11. DAPU Linen Sheet Set

Made from 100% French flax and certified OEKO-TEX, this linen sheet set is an excellent choice for individuals with sensitive skin. The fabric is stonewashed for a slightly glossy finish and softened feel that improves with every wash. Linen is naturally breathable and durable, and these sheets are no exception. Simply machine wash on a gentle cycle and tumble dry on a low setting.

Each set includes:

  • A flat sheet

  • A fitted sheet with a 16-inch pocket

  • Two envelope-closure pillowcases

One Amazon reviewer shares:
"I was skeptical about linen being soft, but I’ve tried everything for hot sleepers like me. These feel amazing! Even when our AC went out for five days during a heatwave, I stayed cool and comfortable. They just keep getting softer, and I no longer wake up in a pool of sweat. Priceless!"

12. SHEEX Original Performance Sheet Set

The SHEEX Original Performance Sheets are a fan favourite for a reason, especially among those dealing with night sweats. Made from a blend of polyester and spandex, these sheets are designed to be ultra-light, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying. They’re engineered to breathe better than cotton and help regulate temperature swings throughout the night.

Each set includes a fitted sheet with secure elastic corners, a flat sheet, and two pillowcases. They're easy to care for, machine-washable and dryer-safe, though you’ll want to skip bleach and fabric softeners to maintain their performance.

The standout feature? Their softness. Fans consistently rave about the buttery, smooth feel; one reviewer even compared them to rabbit fur. And they only get softer with each wash.

The Sleep Zone sheet set offers more than just an attractive price. Made from microfiber yarn double-brushed on both sides for added softness, these sheets feature NANOTEX Coolest Comfort technology, which wicks moisture, dries quickly, and helps regulate body temperature. One reviewer praised how “air flows right through the sheets as if you're not covered at all!” However, some found the fabric thinner than they prefer, so personal taste is a factor.

The set includes a fitted sheet with:

  • A 16-inch pocket

  • A flat sheet

  • Two pillowcases

It's all machine washable and dryer friendly. They’re also resistant to shrinking and wrinkling. At under $30, they represent excellent value.

Real Relief for Night Sweats: How Sleep Zone Sheets Help Perimenopausal Sleepers Stay Dry and Comfortable

Helpful Amazon review: “I love these sheets. I struggle with perimenopausal night sweats and bought these for that reason. They don’t feel cooler when you first get into bed, but if you tend to get hot during the night and soak your sheets, these make a huge difference.

They’re like dry-wicking activewear, drying quickly and keeping me comfortable all night. I used to get up to change sheets or get a towel, but not anymore. They’re also very soft. I was worried they wouldn’t feel as good as my high-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, but they do.”

High-Quality Percale Sheets for Cool, Comfortable Sleep with a Softening Touch Over Time

Helpful Amazon review: “These Percale sheets are genuinely some of the nicest fabric I have come across in the many years of exclusively buying Percale weave sheets. So much so, I've ordered multiple sets from Peru Pima. They start a bit still but continually soften over time, and they sleep so very cool (limit night sweats like none other).

The fit is excellent for an average-depth mattress and works well for a deeper mattress as well. I would like to see a thicker/stronger elastic band on the fitted sheet.”

21. Endy Organic Cotton Sheets

Like Casper, Endy is a mattress company branching out into bedding. Their sheets are made entirely of certified organic cotton, with a thin but durable weave. They offer the mix of breathability and softness that has given cotton sheets such long-lasting popularity.

The reason they’re not higher on the list is that Endy doesn’t specify what variety of cotton goes into their sheets. As we noted earlier, this usually means it has short fibers that clump up more and don’t last as long. The Endy sheets have a thin profile, which helps them stay somewhat cool. But they won’t release as much body heat as sheets made with a better grade of cotton.

Endy’s return window is a little narrower than most. Bedding companies typically offer you 100 nights to test out their products, while Endy only gives you 60. But they do offer free shipping to Canadian customers, which is a nice perk.

What Are Some Other Ways to Keep Cool at Night?

So, you’ve invested in a set of cooling sheets, but you’re still feeling a little too warm at night. What now? Well, there are a few other ways you can cool down. “Investing in a wool duvet or mattress topper is another great way to cool down your body at night,” says Kelly Murray, a certified pediatric and adult sleep coach based in Chicago. “They feel like you're sleeping in a big, giant hug, keeping you warm in the winter without overheating and cool in the summer. Plus, they're moisture-wicking,” Murray adds.

If you run especially hot at night, you can also purchase a chilling pad for your mattress. If overheating at night is a serious issue for you, though, you should check with your doctor, as that could be a sign of a hormonal imbalance, Murray says. For example, "if you have low estrogen, then your body might not be able to maintain its temperature appropriately," Murray says. Another possible cause could be issues with blood sugar regulation. If your blood sugar drops in the middle of the night, that could trigger a stress response that could lead to your body overheating, for example.

Choosing the Right Bedding for Night Sweats

When it comes to getting good sleep, not all bedding is created equal. Here are some helpful tips to make finding the best bed sheets for night sweats easier, allowing you to enjoy a fabulous night's sleep.

Lightweight Fabrics Are Key

Heavy fabrics can trap warm air, which is the complete opposite of what you want when you’re looking for the most comfortable sheets for hot sleepers. Look for light materials by checking the thread count (for cotton) or the grams per square inch (GSM) (for linen). The lower these numbers are, the lighter the material will be.

Breathability Matters

When you choose loosely woven textiles for your sheets, it allows for good airflow. This is a must-have when you’re thinking about the optimum sheets to keep you nice and cool. The right level of breathability helps sweat evaporate more quickly, making you feel cooler throughout the night.

Just like fabric weight, the less dense the material is, the more breathable it will be, and the better airflow it will have. A lower thread count can contribute to better breathability because there is more space between the threads. Sheets with higher thread counts (above 400) may have a tighter weave, which can impact breathability.

Absorbency Is Critical

The best sheet fabric for hot sleepers is highly absorbent. These types of fabrics soak up moisture like sweat, promoting a much cooler and more comfortable night’s sleep. Make sure your new sheets and other bedding are made of quick-drying fabrics since damp sheets won’t leave you feeling well-rested.

Also, stay on top of weekly laundering since this bedding will absorb just about everything. Any fabric that is moisture-wicking and labelled as anti-bacterial will help you remain cool all night. Always opt for cooling sheets and other bedding made of natural, organic materials like cotton or linen.

Softness Is Crucial

Choose sheets and bedding that’s soft and non-irritating to the skin so that you can sleep soundly. Look for sheets and bedding that have temperature-regulating properties.

Other “Cool” Sleeping Tips

ICYDK, your body temperature needs to drop about two degrees lower at night to synthesize melatonin, Murray says. Therefore, you must create an environment that fosters this. That means ensuring your bedroom is “dark, cool, and quiet” when you're ready for bed. Other than investing in some cooling sheets, you can also improve your sleep quality by keeping a consistent sleep routine that involves ending screen time at least an hour before you go to bed.

"Your body and brain are always looking for patterns throughout the day to know what happens next," Murray explains. "So if you have a consistent bedtime routine that's very relaxing, that will trigger the production of melatonin and help your brain to unwind."
